We all have a strange obsession with something; whether its a boy, a band or a certain kind of food! Up until May of this year, I was obsessed with skiing/snowboarding, or at least I thought it was an obsession!
Well, let me tell you! The first time I heard 'All Time Low' by The Wanted, it was like something sparked in my brain! Ever since that day, they're all I can think about!!! I remember I went to Lourdes for a week the start of June and I felt so deprived because I had no way of listening to them! The obsession has just grown daily ever since!
Then when I saw pictures of them! Words cannot describe how gorgeous they all are!!! I started watching all of their #WantedWednesday videos and I thought to myself: 'OMG their just like 5 regular guys!!!' They're so down-to-earth and really care for their fans!
Then came their second single: Heart Vacancy! From the moment I heard this song, I just knew these guys would be big! Of course there is the torture of not being able to download the new song for ages after you first hear it on the tv, so, like with All Time Low, I sat on the computer any spare moment I had to listen to it on YouTube!
The day Heart Vacancy came out was the day after the Luas came out near me, so I hoped straight on and headed for HMV. Without hesitation, I walked straight to the cashier and bought their new single! Didn't let go of it all day!!
I'll always remember the first time I saw them in person! October 22nd in HMV Dundrum! The back entrance was closed off and the queue was already long! Every time the door upstairs was opened a crack we'd all scream like mad! When The Wanted finally walked out, the lot of us went mad! Siva walked out with his Irish flag and waved it at us!!! I waited a good hour until I finally got up to the top of the queue! There were two people ahead of me, then Tom looked over so I waved! I nearly fainted when he waved back! The security guy pushed me and my sister along and the first person I cam to was Siva! Tom took a picture of me, Siva and my sister, and then I got a hug from Siva! They passed my poster along and all signed it. Got a hug and a kiss on my cheek from Tom; still remember his stubbly face touching mine! Jay was next! Got a hug from him and then he asked me was I alright because I was like shaking! I then moved on to Max, who also gave me a hug! Apparently he was wearing fake tan?!, But I didn't notice! Nathan was last, and guess what? I got a hug from him too!!! Grabbed my poster just as the security guy pushed me along but I managed to get a photo of Nathan giving my sister a hug! It was then that I realised I had completely forgotten to take pictures with Tom, Jay, Max and Nathan! I was in such shock to be in the presence of The Wanted that the thought hadn't occurred to me! I waited by the delivery entrance of HMV for an hour and a half with a few others, but they never came out that way...even though they had entered through that door! :( I remember the first thing I said to my mam when I got home was 'Can I go to RTE?' Of course she said no, so I waited through 50minutes of a very boring 'Late Late Show' for the wanted to perform! They were amazing!
Since then, they're all I can think about! I couldn't sleep at all that night and I haven't been able to eat properly either! On Saturday night, I went to my friends 18th and the second I got home I listened to their album! When I was going to bed I decided I'd try listening to their album to help me sleep! Well, let me tell you! It worked wonders! I hadn't slept that well in a while! I still woke early and couldn't get back to sleep, but I think that has something to do with the fact that I miss them so bad!
I went skiing on the Sunday, wearing their t-shirt, and listened to them on my iPod the whole time! I have found that I'm never peaceful unless I'm listening to them(either their songs or them talking in their videos and ustream!)
I had such a good sleep last night, listening to them sing all night and I woke up all refreshed! I actually start to shake if I can't hear them, or if I don't have anything distracting me!
I know all the words to their songs and I can even tell who's singing when! Its actually kind of creepy, if you think about it!!! :O
Even thinking about all the fans you see on their videos and on facebook and twitter is just madness! They haven't even been around for 9months and they're already huge! I've only known about them for five months but thats enough to be hooked on them!
I can honestly say I did not know the meaning of obsession until The Wanted came into my life! I'd go to the ends of the earth to see them again, thats how passionate I feel about them and their music!
The Wanted are definitely a band to watch carefully!!! They are already huge and have some major people working for them. Imagine what they'll be like this time next year?!!!!!
I wish the lads the best of luck in the future! And I can't wait to see them again, preferably sooner rahter than later!!! :D
